A RECENT NOR EASTER HIT THE NEW ENGLAND COAST AND AS THOUGHT THIS WRECK SURFACED AGAIN FROM ITS BURIED DEMISE--<span style="color: #232323; font-family: "Crimson Text", Georgia, Cambria, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size: 17.5px;">The skeleton only appears periodically - the last time was in 2013 - always after a significant coastal storm, and always attracting attention. Archaeological work conducted in 1980 indicated the wreck is a sloop of about Revolutionary War age. It is likely a “pinky,” a type of vessel with a high, narrow stern and square rigging easily maneuverable along the coast of Maine. Pinkies were popular as fishing and cargo vessels.

<div style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #232323; font-family: "Crimson Text", Georgia, Cambria, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size: 17.5px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-top: 1em;">
The first sighting of the skeleton was in 1958, and then it has surfaced periodically right up to the present day - and usually after a good spring nor’easter.

<div style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #232323; font-family: "Crimson Text", Georgia, Cambria, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size: 17.5px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-top: 1em;">
Word spread quickly about this sighting via social media, and people came over the weekend and on Monday as well. First, they had to navigate the seaweed- and rock-strewn streets of York Beach. They were also precluded from parking cars in most of the Ellis Park lot, which was buried under a layer of sand stretching as far back as Ocean Avenue. In fact, a front end loader could be seen Monday morning shoveling bucket loads of sand back onto the beach.

I've always felt a special fascination for mosaics. From Roman tile compositions to current digital collages, I think they're an awesome artistic expression.
That's why I was so happy when I found Andreamosaic.
This tool enables you to create amazing mosaics from your digital pictures in a very easy way.
It requires having a large collection of photos to use as tiles, that's true. Fortunately the installation file already includes a pack of 500 sample photos that produce excellent results.
The program's interface is quite dull; in fact it's simply a gray window with too much text on it. But the mechanics are easy to understand so you'll be creating your own mosaics in no time!
Plus, the program includes a 20-page manual that explains everything thoroughly. Just remember that the more tiles you use, the longer it will take to generate the mosaic and the larger the final file will be.
He was performing an NEC DSX-80 install and told me he could not get the paging to work. He could hear the page over the phones, however he could not hear it through the overhead speakers.

I asked what kind of paging system he had?
He said "5 warehouse horns and a paging amp".

I told him to unplug the connector from the CPU card, and asked if it was a mono or stereo plug? It must be a mono plug, stereo will not work (A mono plug has 2 metal sections with 1 spacer between them. A stereo plug has 3 metal sections with 2 spacer between them). He told me mono it was amono plug.

I told him to put his tone generator on to the 2 metal sections of the mono plug and listen for the toner through the page horns. He told me "I'm not hearing any sound".

I told him to go to the amp page input connections and do the same thing with the toner. He did this, and yes his toner was now playing through the horns.

At that point he knew what I was going to tell him which was that the problem lies somewhere in the connection he had made from the CPU to the amp, and to work backwards until he found the problem.

He did this and called me back saying the toner now worked all the way, however after he plugged it back into the CPU card he still could not hear the horns when paging.

I had him test the page while I listened. He kept saying "TEST, TEST", I told him that instead of saying"TEST" he should blow into the receiver. He did this and he heard it. What was happening is that he was working alone and from where he was standing, when he said "TEST, TEST", he was hearing himself and therefore could not hear the horns.

I told him to always test paging by blowing through the receiver, because when you say a word, you tend to hear yourself and therefore sometimes you cannot hear your speakers.

Problem solved.

For comments, questions, or to share a tip, please email us at:info@necdsxdistributors.com

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1500811207611212936.post-55046556834580774272012-07-08T08:39:00.002-04:002012-07-08T08:42:23.056-04:00Is the FBI taking down the Internet?Q. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning.... Uphill... Barefoot.... BOTH ways. yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!
And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents!

Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe!

There were no MP3's or Napsters or iTunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless. Cause, hey, that's how we rolled, Baby! Dig?

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it!

There weren't any freakin' cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a damn call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOD !!! Think of the horror... not being in touch with someone 24/7!!! And then there's TEXTING. Yeah, right. Please! You kids have no idea how annoying you are.

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your parents, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, the collection agent... you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your screen guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen... Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!! NO REMOTES!!! Oh, no, what's the world coming to?!?!

There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-finks!

And we didn't have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! Imagine that!

And our parents told us to stay outside and play... all day long. Oh, no, no electronics to soothe and comfort. And if you came back inside... you were doing chores!
And car seats - oh, please! Mom threw you in the back seat and you hung on. If you were luckily, you got the "safety arm" across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling "shot gun" in the first place!
See! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled rotten! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980 or any time before!

Regards,
The Over 30 Crowd
(Send this to someone you'd like to make smile)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1500811207611212936.post-33863497529873279262011-09-10T09:49:00.001-04:002011-09-10T09:49:09.722-04:00HAPPY MARRIAGE DAY TO MIKE AND SHEILA GALLAGHER.
