Palm has said that an emulator for its upcoming Palm Pre smartphone will allow the device to run applications based on previous Palm operating systems,
a move that won applause in many quarters. Palm has still not given a firm date for the Pre's release, but it is rumored that it was still on track for a mid May ship date.
