Oprah Winfrey Blackberry-written article on Michelle Obama for Time lost

Oprah Winfrey had a minor meltdown over the piece she wrote about Michelle Obama for Time magazine.

The talk-show legend had happily agreed to profile the First Lady for the mag's annual "100 Most Influential People" issue, but, unfortunately, her phone wasn't quite as cooperative.

"I had written the whole piece on my BlackBerry, and I was feeling really so great about it," Winfrey told us at the Time Warner Center gala event Tuesday night. "I wrote it in the memo section, and I went to hit save and I hit another key — and it disappeared. I lost the whole thing!"

She continued, "I had been writing it for a long period of time. I'd add a line when I heard someone say something that I liked, and this is how I wrote it for, like, a month. I figured I would sit down the day it was due and polish the whole thing, but it was just gone!"

So what did the queen of talk TV do?

"I just stared at the BlackBerry for about 30 minutes," she laughed. "I hit every single key to make it come back. I called the IT guy and then I sort of stared at my computer. I couldn't even think of a sentence or a word [I had written]. It was like, 'Oh my God. This has never happened to me, but of course it happens for [Michelle's piece].' I had to start all over. I was panicked. It was an absolute deadline, so it was crazy."

Her device must have been fully functioning at the Time gala, because she Twittered throughout the ceremony, which featured a speech by none other than Michelle Obama.

The night's host, Jimmy Fallon, razzed the First Lady a smidgen. "You've probably noticed there's a ton of Secret Service here tonight," he said, "which means that we've got the most powerful woman in the free world here ... Oprah Winfrey."

Fallon also touched on Bernie Madoff, quipping, "Bernie loves Time. In fact, he's doing it right now."

And, perhaps after noticing Winfrey busily sending out tweets, the comic addressed the founders of Twitter, Evan Williams and Biz Stone. "You are singularly responsible for creating one of the most widely used and influential ... Sorry, I reached my 140 character limit, so that's enough of that."

Don't worry, Jay-Z — Idris Elba doesn't have designs on your woman. Although the actor plays BeyoncĂ©'s hubby in "Obsessed," his current fixation is none other than Tyra Banks. "I'm a big fan of Tyra's!" he told us at the launch of Hennessy Black. "She is sexy. I mean, I don't really get obsessed with anyone, but Tyra is definitely hot."

Matthew Rhys may be straight, but he has no problem making out with guys. During a stop at Rachael Ray's show, the "Brothers and Sisters" star even confided that, out of all his on-screen male suitors, former "Sex and the City" hunk Jason Lewis is the best kisser. Samantha Jones would agree!
